God takes delight in you - 6 March 2025

The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing. Zephaniah 3:17, NIV
In September last year, 64-year-old David Jones from South Carolina faced an unexpected challenge. His daughter was getting married in Tennessee and he was determined to share this special moment with her. However, when Hurricane Helene swept through, all the roads leading to the wedding venue were shut down.
Refusing to let the storm keep him away, David packed a backpack with his wedding suit, a shaving kit and a windbreaker – then set off on foot. The more than 40-kilometre journey was anything but easy. He had to navigate through fallen trees, scattered debris and slippery mud. At one point, he got stuck knee-deep in the muck, but giving up was never an option.
Just a few kilometres from his destination, an old colleague spotted him and offered him a ride to the church. David arrived just in time to shower, change and proudly walk his daughter down the aisle. That day became an unforgettable memory for both father and daughter.
This story offers a glimpse into God’s heart. Just as David refused to let obstacles keep him from his child, God never gives up on us. He went even further – giving his only Son so we would not be lost, but could have eternal life in his presence. Zephaniah 3:17 reminds us of this truth: “The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”
May we be reminded today of how deeply God loves us. He delights in us. He rejoices over us with singing! Be encouraged.
Prayer: Father God, thank you for your love and faithfulness. When doubt creeps in, help me to remember that you never forget nor abandon us. I ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
