Gods dream for our World – how can we Help? - 24 April 2025

The Lord has told you what is good. He wants you to do what is right, to love being kind, to live humbly before God. Micah 6:8, English Bible for the Deaf
Let me get straight to the point. A question each of us can ask ourselves is: are we contributing to God’s dream for our world?
Our world is full of pain. Many terrible things happen. There is an overwhelming amount of sadness and so much suffering.
If you, like me, read the news regularly, you’ll be aware of the sorrow surrounding us. Yes, it’s unpleasant, but I don’t believe we should bury our heads in the sand.
I’m certain that the picture we see every day of how life looks for so many people is nowhere near what God envisioned or dreamed for our world.
The real question is: what are you and I doing to help make things better? How are we helping the people around us who are struggling? How do we contribute to the community we live in? How do we treat the people who cross our paths – the important people, the strangers, even the ones we don’t really like?
Are you trying to make things better, restore relationships, bring relief or offer comfort? Or do you reserve your kindness only for the people you love and get along with – the people you know and deal with daily?
God’s children know what his dream is for our world. We know because it’s all in the Bible. It’s not an easy task and we will probably never be able to ease all the suffering and pain. But it is still our duty to try. So how can we not help to make that dream come true?
Prayer: Lord, use me. Help me to make a difference in this world. Help me, through everything I do, to let your light shine, to bring comfort, ease pain and contribute to making our world a better place. Amen.
