At the start of the week, we reflected on the fact that some dreams don’t come true. But that doesn’t mean we should give up or stop dreaming. It’s good to dream and even better to dream big.

 

There’s a saying I came across years ago. I can’t even remember where, but it’s become a bit of a life motto for me: Shoot for the moon, and you’ll land among the stars.

 

If you’re a child of God, there’s no reason why you can’t dream big. Things that seem impossible can still happen. After all, we believe in miracles, don’t we?

 

And yes, even if your dream doesn’t come true exactly the way you imagined it, you might still “land among the stars” and that’s still something amazing, all because you dared to dream bigger than big.

 

Sometimes, a dream just needs one small action to get going. Maybe you just need to start with an idea, update your CV and talk to someone, even if you feel scared or insecure. Sometimes, you just need to gather your courage and ask, or simply sit at a desk and begin.

 

Each of us has different dreams; I know that. Maybe your dream is to find the love of your life. Perhaps it’s to have a baby, get a better job or start your own business. Maybe, right now, your dream is as simple as having stability at home. There are many different dreams floating around out there.

 

We serve a wonderful God. He is almighty and he is right beside each one of us. Have you told him about your dream? Ask him for the wisdom and insight to know where and how to begin. Ask for the perseverance and patience needed to keep going. Remember, dreams often come true in different ways than we expect … and then you eat that elephant one bite at a time.

 

One day, when you look back on your life, you’ll be grateful that, at the very least, you tried.

 

Prayer: Father, thank you that as your child, I can keep dreaming. Help me to pursue my dreams. Give me guidance, the necessary insight and wisdom. Show me where to begin and the path you want me to walk. Amen.
