Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Ephesians 6:10, NIV
Just over a year ago, Marnus Coetzee and his family experienced first-hand the power in the name of Jesus Christ. Here is an excerpt of his testimony:
Marnus: “One Saturday afternoon, my family and I were driving around on our smallholding. After dropping them off at the house, I headed to a field where a tractor had gotten stuck in the mud. While trying to free it, something went terribly wrong. In an instant, the 2,5-ton tractor lifted into the air and crashed down on top of me. With one of its massive wheels spinning dangerously close to my head, the heavy vehicle began sinking deeper into the mud. I could feel my legs and vertebrae cracking. At that moment, I was convinced I was going to die. In absolute desperation, I cried out the name of Jesus at the top of my lungs.
“Back at home, my son, who was watching television, suddenly told my wife that he needed to go check on me. As they stepped outside, they heard my final desperate cry: ‘Jesus!’ My wife jumped into the vehicle and sped towards me. Overcome with shock at my condition, my children placed their hands on my head and started praying in faith.
“The farm watch was alerted and within minutes, twenty farmers arrived to help. They managed to lift the tractor off me and I was rushed to the hospital. The doctors conducted X-rays and were stunned – I had no life-threatening injuries. To them, it was nothing short of a miracle.
“Looking back, I bear only a few scars where my arm was completely broken. God supernaturally healed me and I know without a doubt that he was with me in the mud that day. He heard my family’s prayers and it was he who saved me!”
God is our ultimate Saviour. In Ephesians 6:10, we read: “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” And 1 Chronicles 29:11 reminds us: “Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendour, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all.”
May we never forget that there is power in the name of Jesus Christ. And, he still saves!
Prayer: Father God, thank you that I can find my strength in you. Help me to always turn to you first in times of trouble, rather than relying on people. I ask this in the powerful name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
